What you do
When something drops, raid chat tells you which kind of item it is.
Roll item
Press Main spec or Off spec in the pop-up, within 30 seconds. Don't want it? Pass, or do nothing.
No addon? Type /roll for main spec or /roll 99 for off spec.
Council item · decided before the raid
Same pop-up, plus ticks for how much it helps you and an optional note. Your bid goes only to the loot master and the council, who decide; #loot-log says why.
No addon? /roll or /roll 99 is your bid, without the ticks or a note.
The pop-ups are drawn from the addon's layout, not screenshots.
That's all you need. Which items are council items is settled in Discord before the raid, and every award is posted afterwards. The rest of this page is detail.
Try a drop
Tap a situation to see how it plays out: the raid chat, who wins and why, and the line that goes in #loot-log. It works it out the way the addon does.
The rules
Agreed by the officers with a group of raiders from our old guild. We'll review them after a month: tell us what works and what doesn't.
Rolling
- Main spec beats off spec.
/rollfor main spec,/roll 99for off spec, within 30 seconds. Only your first roll counts. - Already won a main-spec item tonight? You roll after everyone who hasn't. Off-spec wins don't count.
- Members and socials before trials: a trial wins only if no member rolled the same kind of roll.
- A tie rolls again.
- Everything is rolled unless the officers have made it a council item, which they can do before it ever drops.
Council items
Only for contested, high-value or progression items. The council looks at, in this order:
- Main spec and class fit. Bows go to hunters, tank items to tanks.
- Size of the upgrade over your current raid gear. PvP, dungeon or crafted gear never counts against you.
- Loot from earlier raids, so it gets spread around. Tonight's doesn't count.
- Reliability. Absences flagged early are fine; no-shows aren't.
- Effort. Consumables, knowing fights. Tie-breaker only.
The council
- 3 officers + 1 raider, a different raider each week. One vote each.
- Every vote comes with a reason from the list above, and #loot-log shows why the winner got it.
- Rank means nothing. Officers get no loot priority.
- Nobody votes on their own loot.
- No clear answer within five minutes? The top candidates roll off.
Questions and legendaries
- Questions about a decision: message the raid leader after the raid, not in raid chat.
- Decisions on the night stand, unless it was a clear mistake. Asking politely never counts against you.
- Legendaries get a post of their own before one can drop. Rank plays no part.
Discord & the addon
#loot-items
Every raid item we know of, and whether it's a council or roll item. Think a roll item should be councilled? Press Suggest for council: it counts towards the officers' next look at the list, never mid-raid. Items not seen in our raids yet are behind a spoiler.
#loot-priorities
The council items for the raid and any priority ("Warlock priority"), posted before each raid.
#loot-log
Every award after each raid, by boss: the item, who got it, and how. A council award shows its votes and reasons, or the roll-off.
The addon · optional, unless you're on the council
Noctis Loot Council on CurseForge. Buttons instead of typing /roll; tags, a note and your upgrade % on council bids; /nlc loot lists every raid drop we've seen. It's a new beta: send an officer a screenshot of any error.
Questions
Do I need the addon?
Not to get loot. Rolls come from raid chat, so /roll and /roll 99 work for every item, and on a council item your roll is your bid. The addon adds buttons, bid tags and a note.
Yes if you're on the council that week. Votes are cast in the addon's council window, and the council's raider seat rotates, so any raider may be asked. Installing it now saves a scramble later.
Why did someone get a council item over me?
Look in #loot-log: a council award shows how many votes it got and the reasons the council gave, for example "council, 3 of 4 votes · biggest upgrade, less loot so far". If it went to a roll-off, that's shown with the roll. Still unsure? Message the raid leader after the raid.
What counts as "already won tonight"?
A main-spec roll win or a main-spec council award, until the next raid night. Off-spec wins don't count, on roll or council items.
An item nobody has seen before drops. What happens?
If the officers haven't already decided on it (they can, before it ever drops), it's rolled. They can make it a council item from its next drop.
What if nobody wants an item?
The loot master disenchants it or puts it in the guild bank.
